Monday morning Cade went to work in hopes that everything with Brogan would continue to get better! We both thought it would be fine for him to go to work and come to the hospital once he was off, but Monday turned into a nightmare for us! I got a call at about eight thirty from the NICU, we are going to hate seeing that number pop up on our phones for the next two months!!! Anyway the doctor on the phone started out by saying we have had a bit of a setback, Brogan is going to need to go into surgery today! I knew we were going to have good and bad days with a baby in the NICU but I was not prepared to hear the word surgery! Brogan had a whole in his bowel. They noticed the whole in some x-rays that they took earlier that morning and it needed to be taken care of ASAP!
I rushed to get to the hospital but barely missed seeing him before he went into surgery! :( I was so grateful Cade was nice and close at the office that day and that he got to be with Brogie before he went in for his procedure! We waited for about two and a half hours when we heard that the surgery went well. He will have to have a Colostomy bag for a while but they will reconnect his intestine before he comes home!
Monday was really hard for me! I felt so helpless seeing my baby boy laying there, sedated and on morphine. I just kept telling myself that he was drugged and not hurting!
Tuesday and today have been wonderful! He was on Dopa mine (SP) to help control his blood pressure and he has been doing so well controlling it himself that they took him off of that! His breathing is pretty good, his coloring looks awesome! They did an ultra sound to make sure there is not any bleeding in the brain and that came back clear!
The doctors told us on Monday to expect him to get worse before he gets better but so far all the doctors have been really happy with his progress!
