Brogie Boy

My Sweet Brogan has arrived!  He decided he was ready to see mommy and daddy last Friday afternoon!  It has been quite the roller coaster already! Im going to try to start from the beginning and get everyone caught up here, this is mostly for me to help me remember in the future, it may be long but bare with me!

Thursday evening Cade and I were sitting at home watching So You Think You Can Dance and I was having horrible horrible cramping pains.  Cade and I both thought maybe at first it was just him dropping or something but then I realized these cramps were happening every four to five minutes!  Cade called Dr. Klomp and he asked me what I was feeling and when I told  him he said "ok, honey those are contractions."   My mind automatically started racing, I cant be having contractions im 29 weeks, everything had been fine my entire pregnancy.  Cade and I got to the hospital and into to triage, when they started looking me over both nurses kept saying we will get some fluids in you and send you on your way.  They told us pre-term labor is very common and can easily be stopped!  They began to check my cervix and were both surprised when they saw me dilated to a four!  Obviously they admitted me,  they told me I would be there on bed rest for weeks until brogan was born!  UGH, I started thinking about Cade and I being apart at night, how well he would take care of himself, what I was going to do with myself for weeks lying on my side in a hospital bed!  we tried one drug, i dont remember the full name but they called it TREB, that seemed to slow the contractions down for a while but during the night they picked up again.
Friday Morning my nurse was concerned with how often I was having contractions so they put me on magnesium to try to stop them.  She told me if this doesn't work there is not much else we can do to stop contractions.   About two hours after I was on the magnesium my doctor checked my cervix and I had dilated to a five and was 100% effaced, he could feel my bag bulging and brogans head.  He was so sweet and said Im so sorry but we will not be able to hold him off for weeks, he said I doubt it will even be days.  I got a little upset and he said I would plan on having your boy today.  I loved my OB he could tell I was freaking out knowing Brogan is eleven weeks early and he started to tell me about how I was lucky we were at that hospital that the NICU is one of the best and that they would take care of my sweet baby boy!
A couple of hours later the nurse checked my cervix and I was at an eight, time to push!  My doctor came, I got an epidural and we started pushing.

I dont think I even pushed for ten minutes when I saw my handsome little monkey at 3 lbs 2 oz and 16 1/2 inches long!  He let out a huge cry, all the doctors were happy to hear a good scream.  The NICU doctors worked on him in the room for a few minutes so I got to see him a little bit, Cade took a bunch of pictures.  Brogan was so funny the whole time they were working on him, his little arms were trying to push everyone away, Cade said he was kicking like crazy!  They took him away and I recovered for a few hours and then got to go to the NICU and see my little boy!

He definitely has daddy's long hands and feet!

Even though this little munchkin still had two and a half months we are so happy!  He is so beautiful, Cade and I are amazed at the love that we have for him already!  We have been blessed with this beautiful little boy and he is fighting so hard to stay here with mommy and daddy!
